Jacobs Institute

Our students visited the Jacob’s Institute on Friday, February 7. As part of the Academy’s portfolio assessment process, the students identified an interest in science and mathematics related careers. As a result, several field trips are planned that will expose students to careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) professions. The Jacob’s Institute illustrates the integration of these professions in the medical community. Students learned about the various professionals that work together to maximize the quality and efficiency of patent care in this innovative center that specializes in noninvasive surgical procedures. Prior to the visit, Mr. Chris Randby, Manager, Training and Academic Services visited The Academy with a specialized form of technology that allows surgeons to practice prior to the actual surgery using noninvasive surgical procedures for aneurisms. Each student was provided with the opportunity to “operate”.
