The Buffalo Academy of Scholars instructs each student at the highest grade level she/he is able to succeed. Because we plan individually for each subject and class, we have found that our student levels of performance varies from curriculum area to curriculum area. For example, one student may be enrolled in high school math but elementary English Language Arts. Still others may have one area of distinction and others that represent challenges.
We use the Common Core Learning Standards as guidelines in most classes with the exception of students who are taking Advanced Placement (AP) classes. However, we do not administer NYS tests and assessments. Instead, our course curriculum is assessed using teacher-developed assessments.
Curriculum Standards are content goals, concepts and skills that teachers use to organize and plan lessons. When students are successful in their classes, they are able to demonstrate mastery of the goals found below at the grade level in which she/he is being instructed.
The Learning outcomes below are being used during the 2015-16 school year.
