Writing for Research

Writing is a fundamental component of each class and is integrated into the students’ daily work and Learning Logs. In addition to this work, all students and staff participate in a Writing for Research class. The class is intended to equip the students with the ability to:

  • Identify reliable information sources (primary) from unreliable sources (secondary)
  • Understand how author bias influences the article or study content
  • Learn how to summarize source information and identify important from unimportant content
  • Learn how to brainstorm, draft, and edit work using non-fiction resources
  • Synthesize multiple perspectives and present conflicting perspectives
  • Complete a research paper that illustrates the above
